There is a wealth of freely-available Linux-based Open Source software. To take advantage of that freely-available software you may need qualified engineers to install it correctly. This is where we can help. We can advise on suitable hardware and software to run. We can configure your existing or new computer(s) to run the packages you need and we offer ongoing support after the initial installation.

We can also advise on which packages are suitable. Which are mature, which immature. Whether a commercial package is preferable in some situations.

We believe that many sites no longer need to purchase commercial software for most of their server requirements because freely available software can do the same job. Using Linux and other Open Source software packages can save money both in outright purchase price, and in maintenance. With Linux there is no need to keep track of the number of software licences in use.

If you have a machine with two hard drives, we will offer to mirror them for you. This installation-time option ensures that the programs and information are stored twice - once on each disk. If a drive fails, then the other one carries on running. Drives can even be of different types - for example one IDE drive and one SATA or SCSI drive.
